WTCI Open House + Discussion

Minding the Body: Culture, Feminisms, and Relational Psychotherapy: WTCI’s two-year program educates postgraduate clinicians from a feminist trans-inclusive relational perspective.

Join us for a presentation of Rooms of Her Own: Relational Concepts in Work with an Unhoused Woman. In this presentation, WTCI faculty member, Julie L. Nemeth, Ph.D explores the complexities of analytic work at the edge of intrapsychic and material precarity and probes possibilities for agency, even amidst trauma and marginalization. Against the backdrop of sadistically impoverished social structures, issues of safety, racial idealization and fantasy, deepening transference, and the positionality and privileges of the analyst, including her guilt and wish for reparative experience, are explored. This clinical narrative offers an opxening to consider how we work inside of sociopolitical precarity, when danger and uncertainty are all too real.

After the paper, we will discuss WTCI Training Program offerings and answer questions.
